Edgar Wright & His Trademark Touch

You must have heard this name before, if not let me tell you. Edgar Wright is a trademark of quick-cut montage.

He is a genius behind Shaun of the dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Hot Fuzz & the acclaimed Baby Driver. He is known for snap-zoom, whip-pan, sight gags to make mundane shots look oddly interesting. He can make any boring shot, intriguing. Even the simple shot of brushing a teeth looks way cool on Shawn of the Dead

Another trick he often uses is sound. Everything in Edgar Wright’s film is done with sound, referred to as “intensified continuity”. Matching the beat to the shot is Edgar’s thing. Watch masterfully edited Baby Driver to witness this.

No filmmaker working today on a mainstream level does editing like wright. The camerawork is the prime aspect of his film. He makes filmmaking more exciting than it should be, and it’s worth looking into how specifically he achieves such. He adds just the right amount of quirkiness to his films.

Now Holy Moly, We have another movie ‘Last Night In Soho’ from him.

So far we’ve seen movies about zombies, buddy cop, Alien invasion, comic book & caper-musical. This time it’s the Horror genre. Looks like Edgar wants to craft every genre during his lifetime.

Synopsis

Film by Edgar Wright-last night in soho

A young woman (Thomasin McKenzie, Jojo Rabbit) can access a bizarre version of ’60s London in this psychological horror. Also stars Matt Smith, Anya Taylor-Joy, Terence Stamp and Diana Rigg. (flicks.com)

The trailer looks very promising & I am sure Edgar will craft this in his style. Super Pumped about this.
