Okay, Since its announcement & trailer it’s clear that it will be just like another Akshay Kumar movie, you may lose track of his movies. LOL

Akshay Kumar is one of the busiest stars in the industry, and he has been transitioning into new territory as of late. Some might say that he is overdoing it and that the quality of his work has suffered as a result. However, one could also argue that since he has done everything from comedy to drama to action to romance, there is no room left for him to explore. In art, there are limitless possibilities and unlimited ways to grow and improve one’s craft. It’s about how much dedication you put into it.

At this point in time, it feels like we’re being bombarded with too much content. The Ayushman Khurana type of content can be overweening for the audience. We have seen with Jayeshbhai Jordar that even a movie with a big banner can tank at the box office. This movie is in the same league.

Anand L Rai’s choice to release ‘Atrangi Re’ on OTT was successful. However, releasing ‘Raksha Bandhan’ in theatres is a silly move. Yes it was timed perfectly but chose the wrong platform. If this movie had been released in OTT, it would have had a better chance of becoming a hit.

The movie addresses a common issue in India, Families would be able to watch it in the comfort of their own homes. Aland L rai did a satisfactory job with the movie, but the writer Kanika Dhillon let him down. The writing in this movie is immature just like her previous movie, “Judgementall Hai Kya”, it falls short.

The movie is planned to be based on the brother-sister relationship, but the sisters become a subplot in order to cover the love story of the male protagonist. There is clearly no bond shown between Akshay and his sisters which makes it hard for the audience to connect with them. However, the emotional scenes in general do work because they reflect how people would feel during a tragedy.

The brother-sister relationship is a unique one. It’s full of banter, bullying, and sometimes even name-calling. However, these siblings still love each other deeply. In this particular instance, the brother is shown making black and fat phobic comments towards his sisters that are offensive. While the message of the movie is important, the bad writing and execution don’t do it justice.

Akshay Kumar was born and raised in the heart of Delhi(Chandni Chowk), so he is very comfortable with the hustle and bustle of the city. He knows the streets and how people move and communicate. However, this movie does not offer much beyond a few good comedy scenes with Akshay Kumar in the first half.
